A Corrales resident has been named head of the village’s public school. Albuquerque Public Schools has hired Ryan Kettler, whose career has spanned roles including superintendent, principal, and adjunct professor, as the new principal at Corrales K-8 School.
He has worked extensively in area school districts, including previously in APS, as assistant principal at Cibola High School and Jackson Middle School and science teacher at Sandia High School. Kettler is also a former Los Lunas Schools superintendent and Rio Rancho High School principal who has worked as an adjunct professor for the University of the Southwest. Kettler holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Wayland Baptist University, a master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Texas Permian Basin and a Ph.D. in physical education, sports and exercise science from the University of New Mexico.
“Having lived in Corrales for more than six years, Dr. Kettler brings both a nuanced understanding of the community and the kind of broad leadership experience that’s rare to find,” Assistant Superintendent Troy Hughes told the Corrales Comment. “He’s a natural at supporting teachers and building genuine trust with families, and we’re excited to welcome him back to APS.”
Kettler replaces Alvaro Ramazzini, who was hired for the 2025-2026 school year, but resigned in February amid an investigation.
Corrales K-8 teachers and staff return to work Aug. 3. The first day of school is Aug. 7 for students in Grades 1 through 12; pre-K and kindergarten students return Aug. 11.
