Jasmine Tritten and her husband, Jim, have been in the publishing business for decades, both professionally and personally. The payoff for all of those years of writing was that they swept the New Mexico Press Women’s Awards this year in March.

The Trittens took home a combined eight awards.

Both authors won the Press Women Awards for personal essays and travel articles. Jim also won an award for editing the publication Holes in Our Hearts, featuring stories of veterans from Corrales and other parts of Sandoval County.

Married now for 34 years, Jasmine started journaling as a young girl in Denmark, the journaling was then used to create her memoir.

Jim was a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California. He began writing in high school well before he taught as a professor.

After moving to Corrales in 2002, Jasmine eventually moved into photography and creating book covers for publications of her own and for other writers. She has published two books this month with Rio Rancho author Wanda Jerome.

Currently, the Trittens are writing a book titled, Around the World in 80 Years, chronicling their global travels individually and with each other.

  1. Thank you for the story. If possible, can you correct the eletronic version of this story so I can share it with people who know me?

Throughout (3 instances) change the spelling of our last name to Tritten. First, second, and last paragraphs.

The following sentence should be deleted or re-written: “She then became a journalist, writing for various newspapers around the U.S. and eventually landing at a newspaper in upstate New York.” Jasmine never was a journalist. That was Jim’s mother Jennie. Jennie never worked in various newspapers around the U.S. but only for the Yonkers Herald Statesman in Yonkers, New York.

The following should be deleted or re-written: “Jim was a professor at the Naval Academy in Carmel, California, when he began writing decades ago.” Jim was a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Californa. He has been writing since high school well before he taught as a professor.

In the next to last paragraph, Wanda Jerome (name visible on cover of the book) is incorrectly written as Wanda Jones.

I appreciate the opportunity to correct the story and would appreciate being sent notification that the story has been re-posted. Thanks in advance.
