Ex Novo Selling Two Oregon Locations

Posted

Ex Novo’s owners are coming home.

Ex Novo Brewing Company owner and founder Joel Gregory told The Oregonian late last week that he would be selling the two Ex Novo locations in Oregon to focus on his family life and the brewery’s operations in New Mexico.

“This is a decision that my wife and I have come to. It’s been something that’s been stewing for a while,” Gregory told The Oregonian. “We’re proud of what we’ve built at Ex Novo over the years, and we’re bummed we couldn’t keep it going longer. But at the same time we’re people, and we’re humans. And we’re tired sometimes, and we have to do what’s right for our family. We have four kids now. It’s a lot to juggle.”

Ex Novo has two locations in Oregon. The first opened in Portland in 2014 as a brewery and taproom. Ex Novo then opened a pizza pub that featured its beers in Beaverton in 2019.

The two locations are selling for $1.79 million as a turn-key operation. They took in nearly $4 million in revenue in 2022, according to the sale listing The Oregonian reported.

Gregory told the newspaper he would continue to operate the Oregon locations until a buyer is found. He said he hoped to sell to someone who would “put their own spin on it.”

He also said he hoped an arrangement could be reached where Ex Novo products would still be sold in Oregon.

Gregory opened an Ex Novo location on nearly three acres in his hometown of Corrales in 2019. In addition to the brewing operation on Corrales Road, the property includes a beer garden, taproom, “The Corral,” a space that can be reserved for private parties, and is supplemented by Sandos & Sandias food truck.

As the Comment previously reported, the socially conscious company, whose motto is “Drink Beer, Do Good,” recently announced it would open a new location in Albuquerque.
