Donald Schmidt, a Corrales resident, died July 28, 2022.
Born in Evans, Colo., Don came to New Mexico with his parents, Leo and Caroline Schmidt, at age 14 in 1948. After high school, he served in the United States Navy for four years. He lived in Corrales with his wife, Brenda, and sons, Evan and Rafe Schmidt.Â
He loved being a Corrales volunteer firemen and working with the kids as a 4-H leader. Don also loved hunting and fishing. Before retiring, he worked many years as a construction superintendent. At Don’s request, there will be no funeral.
