The Corrales Historical Society’s Speaker Series will present “Eighteen Years in the Village” with master photographer Dennis Chamberlain on March 23 at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Historic Old San Ysidro Church, located at 966 Old Church Road in Corrales.
Dennis Chamberlain, president of the Corrales Arts Center, will share the stories behind the photographs in his book, Eighteen Years in the Village—A Photographic Tour of Corrales, New Mexico. Chamberlain has a background in Southwestern Art Photography and will discuss his journalistic approach to capturing the region’s essence.
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited to 150 people. Early arrival is encouraged, as no seats can be saved.
According to a press release, Chamberlain’s work focuses on the textures of the Southwestern terrain. He uses modern tools to convey his feelings beyond camera recordings, specializing in capturing drama, vibrancy, and emotion. His photography spans real and imagined elements, with compositions created from his photographs.
A lifelong storyteller, Chamberlain received his first camera at age seven. He has earned several degrees from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), including Certified Professional Photographer, Master Photographer, Master Artist, Photographic Craftsman and Educational Associate.
