A Corrales man’s elderly mare died earlier this month after he says several loose dogs attacked her.
The investigation is pending, but according to a report Mike Garcia filed with the Corrales Police Department, he and his neighbor witnessed the loose dogs running around.
The report states that Garcia yelled at the dogs to get off of his property and later found that his horse had wounds on her ear and hind end. The report states that the wounds could have been caused by the dogs.
The horse was later euthanized by a veterinarian, according to a statement on the Corrales Animal Services Facebook page.
The Corrales Comment reached out to Garcia, but he did not return calls by press time.
