Organizers of the annual Corrales Garden Tour decided to do something a little different this year. The tradition of inviting Corralenos and the public behind the scenes into the magnificent backyards of those living in the village expanded its mission.
This year, several local businesses also upped their garden game, and visitors toured those spots as well as three private gardens on June 2.
Corrales MainStreet organizers say the tour was successful, with over 500 tickets sold in the 13th year of the tour.
In addition to the tour, there were educational lectures and demonstrations by the Sandoval Master Gardeners.

In the future, organizers say the Corrales Garden Tour will continue to focus on sustainable gardens and will preview strategies and examples of this mission.
The Corrales Garden Tour began over a decade ago, when plans for a pedestrian path alongside Corrales Road began. Since there were no funds available for landscaping, a group of volunteers from the village believed visitors would enjoy seeing other people’s gardens, especially those with new and innovative ideas on gardening. The money raised would augment the path project.
The Corrales Pathway fundraising project was officially launched in 2018 and to date, the Corrales Garden Tour is the single largest donor. On average, organizers say the tour raises about $8,000 per year. For more information on the tour, visit corrales-gardentour.com
