By all measures, the inaugural monthlong celebration of ¡Viva Corrales! was a success.

The format this year encompassed a four-weekend schedule offering a variety of local events aimed at celebrating all things Corrales. The event highlighted organizations in Corrales that are a basis for the Arts and Cultural District.

Several hundred people attended various events throughout the village from April 28 to May 19.

“The idea is to combine three events into one larger event to promote art, equestrian, agriculture, lodging, culture, health, safety, wellness, clubs, organizations and much more!” Corrales MainStreet Executive Director Angela Gutierrez said.

¡Viva Corrales! was held for the first time in May of last year. The total cost of this year’s event was $6,500. The village council ponied up $2,500 of that cost. The remainder came from a grant from New Mexico MainStreet.
