Saturday, June 1, Music in Corrales and Corrales MainStreet will present a Free Family Concert at La Entrada Park right next to the Corrales Library at 84 W La Entrada.

This year’s concert features the 55-piece New Horizons Band of Rio Rancho.  New Horizons Band primarily consists of musicians 55 and older who have played in bands, taught music or are still teaching music. They will play music ranging from Disney to Big Band/Sinatra including pieces from Looney Tunes, The Incredibles, Frozen, Simple Gifts and The Reign of Love.

There’s a nostalgic element to these concerts as well, and organizers are hoping this series brings families together. “This concert is a throwback to the 1980s and 1990s when there were annual Father’s Day concerts in La Entrada Park,” said John Schumann, president of Music in Corrales.

Music in Corrales is free and family friendly. Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are encouraged. Concert attendees can bring picnics and beverages as well.

Music will be from 5 to 6:30 pm.

Music in Corrales is now in its 38th season, and hosts music in schools as well as concerts inside the Casa San Ysidro Church. What started as a group of volunteers in 1986 has grown to offer music from around the world each year.

The next scheduled concert in September features Argentinian musician and his group the Alejandro Brittes Trio. Tickets for the fall season go on sale May 17. For more information on the upcoming concert and future Music in Corrales events, visit musicincorrales.org.
