Now that the dust has settled on the Legislative session, state Sen. Brenda McKenna and state Rep. Kathleen Cates know what the village and Sandoval County have been allotted from the state’s 10.2 billion dollar budget, the largest in history.

The lawmakers held a Town Hall in the village on March 14, to let constituents know how things shook out.

Rep. Cates listed her allocations from the Capital Outlay budget for Corrales. Cates said the fire training center project was funded as well as money for Casa San Ysidro Church. The rep said there was also money for new gym equipment for the brand-new gym that opened at the beginning of the month. “I think history is only second to water in the Village of Corrales,” Cates said.

Sen. McKenna then listed the funding she laid out for the village. She appropriated money to the Coronado Historic Site on Hwy 550 near Bernalillo as well as funds for the construction of a new fire station in Bernalillo. The senator set aside money for the construction of the Corrales Fire Line and water tower construction, as well as the Corrales Fire substation construction. Money was also set aside for the repair of the wall surrounding the Casa San Ysidro Church.

Both legislators said that the Meadowlark Trails project was also fully funded. Village administrators have said the project is expected to be completed in 2025.
