Corrales’ Bud Thunborg died October 11. He had a long career as an engineer with Sandia National Laboratories. He was 92. During his 41 years there, Siegfried Thunborg, Jr. worked in solar energy, robotics and nuclear weapons programs. With his wife, Phyllis Thunborg, he had an antiques business here, New Hexican Antiques. Survivors include her, two daughters, Lynn Hightower and Sandy Hyatt, and two sons, Ted  and Jon Thunborg, as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Bud Thunborg earned a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Dayton in 1953, before going on to a master’s degree in that field at the University of New Mexico in 1962.
