If you saw the colorful, original artwork entitled “Cat in the Sun” hanging in an exclusive art gallery, you might feel lucky if you could take it home for a mere $250.
Maybe even if you knew it was created by Corrales thirdgrader Kayla Chambliss.
Her work is among 24 pieces produced by Corrales Elementary students now mounted in Frame-n-Art in Las Tiendas de Corrales Center. It’s the 14th annual “Young in Art” exhibition which stays up until March 11.
Voting for the “People’s Choice” award ends at 5 p.m. Friday, March 4.
In the show are four entries from each grade level from kindergarten through fifth. Subjects range from self-portraits and aspens in snow to alien creatures and a koala bear on a palm tree at sunset.
Media include acrylic paints, watercolor, oil paints, cut paper, pastels, computer photography, block print, painted tiles and collage.
Artists include:
Fifth grade: Karina Adam, Nathan Beaver, Cade Chambliss and Tanner Colyer;
Fourth grade: Joliana Davidson; Arianna Fernandez, Jayne Clifton Fife and Sydney Hopkins;
