Pre-dawn winds December 1 ripped the roof off of a shed behind a home on Ranchitos Road and caused extensive damage at other homes.
Fiberglass insulation from the ceiling of the shed behind a home on Ranchitos Road was flung far and wide during the tornado-style winds that hit between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30  December 1.
Across the street, a row of evergreen trees was uprooted, and farther west on Ranchitos, roof-mounted solar panels were ripped loose.
Surveying the damage later that morning, Corrales Fire Chief Anthony Martinez estimated the wind force as great enough to lift at least 2,000 pounds.
He said other property was damaged by the high winds, but nothing as severe as that along Ranchitos.
On North Felice Perea Road, the roof of a structure was lifted off and carried some 100 feet by the strong winds.  A tree reportedly fell on a car parked at a residence on Meadowlark Lane. Another tree was blown over on Noble’s Lane, according to the Corrales Fire Department.
